Welcome Back!

Greetings, St. Lawrence O’Toole Theatre Participants!

Welcome to the updated Theatre Department Website!  Take some time to look around :)

We will be posting all forms and calendars online once they have been finalized.  In an effort to “go green”, we are keeping our paper waste to a minimum.  The posted forms ARE NOT updated – you will receive these at the Parent Meeting in June.

Audition FAQ’s

Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions about the Audition Process.

  • How should my child dress for the audition? Please have your child/teen dress semi-formal for their audition.  NO Jeans, T-Shirts, Tank-tops, sneakers, etc.  While your child will learn a small dance routine as well (everyone must because it is an audition requirement), they should wear something neat and appropriate. No need to bring a change of dance clothes for this portion, as the dance will not be too difficult and can be done in the audition clothes.
  • How old should my child be if they want to read a monologue? Most people who come into our auditions and read monologues are High School Aged Teens.  While it is not required for everyone, we usually only recommend monologues for high-school aged teens only. However, it is opened to anyone auditioning.
  • Do you turn anyone away from your program? NO!  Everyone that auditions gets into the show!
  • So the only thing required for my child/teen is a musical song?  Monologues and instruments are optional? YES! This is correct!  And when your child/teen comes in to sing their song, remember we have a CD player if they have an accompaniment CD and a piano player if they have sheet music.  Or they can sing A Capella (no background music).  The choice is yours!
  • What is the basic audition procedure going to be like for my child?Enter the parish hall at ANY TIME between 1:00pm and 11:00pm on Sunday May 23rd.  In the gym, there will be a stage manager with paperwork.  PLEASE ENTER WITH YOUR CHILD and fill out the paperwork with them.  There is a place for both child AND parent to sign!
    1. Wait with child in gym – there may be a line as auditions are on a first come, first serve basis
    2. Child will enter down hall to audition room (Parents stay in gym, which is the holding room).
    3. When child leaves, they will know if they received a call-back or not.  Their sheet of paper in their hand will have instructions on it.
    4. Once they are done, you are free to leave!
  • Is this same procedure correct for Pit Orchestra auditions? YES! Same procedure for Cast and Pit orchestra auditions!
  • If I or my child would like to sign-up for crew and were unable to make it to the meeting, how can we sign-up? Just email us at stlawrencetheatre@gmail.com with your name, age, phone number and e-mail address!
